Shining a Spotlight on Good News

The Huffington Post was originally launched in the US in 2005, by Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, Andrew Breitbart and Jonah Peretti, and is an online news aggregator and blog offering news, and original content covering many topics like:

  • Politics
  • Business
  • Entertainment
  • Technology
  • Lifestyle
  • Healthy living
  • Women’s interests
  • Local news

HuffPost Canada was the first international edition of the popular American news site and started up in May, 2011.

In January 2012, a new section was added to the Huffington Post – HuffPost Good News, to bring attention to what’s inspiring, positive, what’s working and mostly what’s missing from the usual stories that the media chooses to report on. HuffPost Good News uses a variety of ways to tell stories to ‘bridge the gap’ that separates the world as it is from the big bad world that is often presented by the majority of media outlets.

Going along with the positive theme, HuffPost also has an Impact site and a Greatest Person of the Day site to showcase how technology is helping to make the world a better place.
